Sign-in and security

Getting access to Svay, signing in with email or Google, resetting your password and turning on two-factor authentication.

Anybody can create a Svay account. There is no waiting list and no key to enter.

Route inWhat you do
Sign upOpen the sign-up page, then continue with Google or enter your name, email and a password of at least 8 characters. You then create your own workspace.
An invitationA workspace owner invites you. Open the link in the invite email, then create your account or continue with Google. You join their workspace with the role they chose.

When you sign up with an email and password, Svay emails you a Confirm your email link and holds you on a Check your email screen until you open it. The link works for 24 hours. The screen carries on by itself as soon as the link is opened, on this device or another one.

If the link ran out or never arrived, check your spam folder, then press Send a new link on the same screen. If you typed the wrong address, choose Sign out and start again. Still stuck? Contact support and we can confirm the address for you.

Signing in with Google, or joining through an invite that was emailed to your address, skips this step because the address is already proven.

If you were added to a workspace by email before you had an account, signing up with that address tells you the account already exists. Use Sign in with Google, or Forgot password? to set a password, or open the invite link that was emailed to you.

  1. Open the link in the invite email. The page shows You’ve been invited with the workspace name and your role.
  2. Choose Sign up with email or Continue with Google.
  3. If you signed up with email, enter your display name and a password of at least 8 characters.
  4. You land in the workspace. If its setup is not finished yet, you land in onboarding first.

Invite links work once and expire after 7 days. If yours says Invalid invite, ask the owner for a new one.

Sign in at app.svay.ai with your email and password, or with Sign in with Google.

  • Both methods reach the same account when they use the same email address. The first time you use Google with an existing account, Google is linked to it and appears under Settings → Sign-in accounts.
  • Google sign-in needs a Google account whose email Google has verified.
  • After signing in you go straight to your workspace. If you belong to more than one, you choose which one first.

You stay signed in while you keep using Svay. After about 7 days without activity, you are asked to sign in again. If you were in the middle of something, Svay returns you to the same page afterwards.

Sign out (bottom of the sidebar, in your account menu) ends your session on every device, not just this one. A device that is already open can keep working for up to 30 minutes before it is asked to sign in. Resetting your password does the same.

Passwords must be at least 8 characters. Length beats complexity.

  1. On the sign-in page, choose Forgot password?
  2. Enter your account email and press Send reset link.
  3. Open the email titled Reset your Svay password and follow the link.
  4. Enter a new password twice and press Update password, then sign in.
  • The reset link works once and expires after 30 minutes.
  • You can request up to 3 reset emails an hour for the same address.
  • The confirmation screen is the same whether or not the address has an account, so it never reveals who uses Svay. If nothing arrives within a few minutes, check spam, then contact Svay rather than requesting again.

Go to Settings → Password, enter your current password and the new one twice, and press Update password.

If you have only ever signed in with Google, the same section shows Set password, which adds a password to your account so you can also sign in with email.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) asks for a six-digit code from an authenticator app after your password. It is off by default and set per person.

  1. Go to Settings → Security and press Enable next to Two-factor authentication.
  2. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, 1Password or Authy. If you cannot scan, type the key shown under the code into the app instead.
  3. Enter the six-digit code from the app and press Verify & enable.

From then on, signing in with your password opens a second screen that asks for the code.

On the code screen, choose Send a code to your email instead. Svay emails a six-digit code that works once and expires after 5 minutes. You can request another after 60 seconds.

Go to Settings → Security, press Disable, and confirm with your password. If your account has no password yet, set one first under Settings → Password.

“Incorrect email or password”, but the password is right. The sign-in page shows this message for several problems, not only a wrong password. Try in this order: wait a minute (repeated attempts are briefly throttled), try Sign in with Google if that is how you joined, use Forgot password?, and finally ask your workspace owner whether you were removed from the workspace.

“This email already has an account.” Someone added this address to a workspace, or you signed up with Google. Use Sign in with Google, or Forgot password? to choose a password.

I am stuck on “Check your email”. Look in spam, then press Send a new link (you can ask for a few an hour). Links last 24 hours.

“Too many sign-ups from this network” or “…for this email.” Sign-up is rate limited. Wait an hour, or use a different network.

“We couldn’t confirm you’re not a bot.” The sign-up form runs a short security check. Turn off any content blocker for the page and try again.

“This invite link is invalid or has expired.” Invite links work once and expire after 7 days. Ask the owner for a new one, or sign up without it and create your own workspace.

“An account with this email already exists.” Sign in instead. Use Forgot password? if you do not know the password.

“Invalid code. Make sure your authenticator app time is synced.” Codes change every 30 seconds and depend on your phone’s clock. Turn on automatic time on your phone, or use Send a code to your email instead.

“Reset link is invalid or expired.” The link is older than 30 minutes, was already used, or a newer email replaced it. Request a new one.

You were signed out unexpectedly. Someone signed out or reset the password on another device, or the account was idle for about a week. Sign in again.
