Forms

Collect sign-ups and leads with a hosted page or an embedded form, with double opt-in on by default.

  • Editors and owners

Forms collect sign-ups, leads and enquiries into your audience. Build a form, then either link to its hosted page or embed it on your site. Open Email → Audience → Forms and choose New form.

Start from a preset: Newsletter signup, Lead capture, Contact form, Refer someone, Event registration or a Blank form. Each comes with a headline you can change, such as “Subscribe”, “Tell us about your business”, “Get in touch” or “Register for the event”. Then set:

SettingNotes
Form nameInternal, for example “Website footer”.
FieldsText, long text, email, phone, URL, number, dropdown, multi-select, radio, checkbox, date, hidden and consent. A newsletter signup takes up to 6 fields; the other presets take up to 30.
Notification emailOptional. An address that is told about each submission.
Automation after form submissionEnrol the person in an automation, or choose No automation.
Field mapping”Only explicitly mapped answers are copied to the contact. All other answers remain on the submission.”

A subscribe form needs an Email field and a Consent field. Svay tells you what is missing when you save, with messages like “Add an Email field to enable subscription.”

Subscribe forms use double opt-in by default. A new sign-up becomes Pending and receives a confirmation email. They become Subscribed only when they click the link. A repeat sign-up from someone who unsubscribed does not re-subscribe them until they confirm through that link, and an address that has bounced is never re-subscribed.

To protect people’s inboxes, Svay sends at most 3 confirmation emails per address per day.

The forms list offers Edit, View submissions, Open hosted form, Copy embed code, Publish form or Archive form, and Delete form. A form must be published to accept sign-ups.

  • Hosted page: open the hosted form and share its address.
  • Embed: choose Copy embed code and paste the snippet into your site.

Svay rate-limits public forms to protect them from abuse: about 10 submissions a minute from one IP address and 60 a minute for one form. Over the per-visitor limit someone sees “Too many signup attempts right now. Please wait a minute and try again.”; over the per-form limit they see “Too many form submissions right now. Please wait a minute and try again.”

View submissions lists everything a form received, with each answer. You can export submissions.

My form page or embed does not load. The form must be published. If it is, contact support; the workspace’s public address may not be set up.

A new subscriber is stuck on Pending. They have not clicked the confirmation link. Ask them to check spam.

“Add a Consent field to enable subscription.” Add a consent checkbox to the form.
