Runs

Follow a video from brief to finished file, read its status, retry or cancel it, and know what each state means.

  • Editors and owners

A run is one video being made. This page covers watching one, fixing one that failed, and stopping one.

The run view has no entry in the sidebar. You can reach it by:

  • Opening a post in Performance → Posts and following Open video (only for posts Svay made).
  • Going to /portal/<your-workspace>/runs in your browser.

Selecting a video under Creative Space → Recent work opens it in the video studio, where its progress is shown, rather than in the run view.

The run view has three tabs:

TabWhat it shows
OverviewProgress and the current step.
StepsEvery step and its status.
Activity”Recent run, retry, approval, and publishing actions for this workspace.”

While a run is active the page updates by itself. You do not need to refresh, and the run continues if you close the tab.

StatusWhat it meansWhat to do
Queued or pendingWaiting for a worker.Nothing.
Running, in progress or processingWorking through a step.Nothing.
WaitingSvay needs you, usually to approve the cost.Open the run and approve. Nothing moves until you do.
SucceededEvery step finished.Review it, then approve or request changes.
Failed or errorA step failed.Press Retry.
Cancel requestedStopping at the next safe point.Wait for it to become Cancelled.
CancelledStopped for good.Start a new video.

Each step in a run carries its own status as well, so you can see where something went wrong, not just that it did. Steps a particular video does not need are skipped.

Svay retries a failing step itself before it shows you Failed. Press Retry to restart from the first step that failed or is waiting. Svay keeps every step that finished, so you do not lose the script because the render failed.

If the same step keeps failing, the brief is usually the problem rather than the run. Change the brief and start a new video.

Press Cancel on a queued or running video. The credits held for it are released. A run that has already succeeded or failed cannot be cancelled. A video waiting for your approval is cancelled from its approval card.

LimitValue
Videos in progress per workspace3 (queued, running or stopping). A video waiting for your approval does not count.
Longest a single run can take1 hour

If a fourth is refused, Svay says “Your workspace can have up to 3 content jobs in progress at once. Video planning, editing, and rendering count toward this limit.” Wait for one to finish or cancel it.

My run has been Waiting for ages. It is waiting for you. Open it and approve the quoted cost.

I cannot find my run. Open the video from Recent work, or use the run view at the address above.

Retry shows an error. The run was cancelled, or no step failed. Start a new video.

The run is taking a long time. Normal. Real generation and rendering happen at every step. The Activity tab is the most useful thing to send support if you need help.
