Review and edit a video
Watch the result, adjust text and layers directly on the preview, ask svay to change a shot, then approve or request changes.
- Editors and owners
When a video finishes, open it from Creative Space → Recent work. The review page plays the finished video and holds everything you can do next: edit, ask for changes, approve, and download.
Approve or request changes
Section titled “Approve or request changes”Both buttons are available once the video has succeeded and no change is being applied.
- Approve clears the video. You see “Approved. This video is ready to publish.” Approving is a record, not a trigger: nothing is posted until you publish or schedule it.
- Request changes asks you for a reason. The reason is required, and it is shown back to you as a quote. Say what was wrong, for example “the hook is too slow”.
Edit on the preview
Section titled “Edit on the preview”You edit the video where you watch it. Click a layer on the preview to select it, then:
| To do this | Do this |
|---|---|
| Change text | Select the text layer, press F2 or choose Edit selected text, and type. Text can be up to 4,000 characters. |
| Move a layer | Drag it. |
| Resize a layer | Drag a handle on the selected layer. |
| Move through nested layers | Select parent layer and Select child layer (or Alt + ↑ and Alt + ↓) walk up and down the layer tree. |
| Undo or redo | Ctrl/⌘ Z and Ctrl/⌘ Shift Z, or the toolbar buttons. |
| Bring back a deleted layer | Restore last deleted layer. |
| Preview your change | Play and the Preview time slider. |
Edits save automatically. The editor shows Saving…, then Saved; there is no Save button.
If someone else changes the same video while you are editing, you see “The video or saved edit changed elsewhere. Your draft is still here.” A reload icon appears in the toolbar (tooltip: Reload latest saved edit). Select it to pick up their version.
Editing on the preview spends no credits. See what you cannot change for the limits.
When the video file is made
Section titled “When the video file is made”Your edits are saved to the video’s draft straight away. If you edited on the preview, the video file that includes those edits is produced when you schedule the video. While that happens, the item shows as Processing on the Calendar. If processing fails, the calendar offers Retry processing, and your schedule is kept. If you did not edit on the preview, the delivered video is scheduled as it is.
Ask svay to change a shot
Section titled “Ask svay to change a shot”For bigger changes than moving or retyping a layer, ask svay in plain language, such as “make the second shot show the product from above.”
- Describe the change in the box on the review page.
- Svay quotes the most it could cost: “This change may use up to N credits. Approve to start the edit.”
- Press Approve and apply change. Svay re-renders only that shot and splices it into the video, then refreshes the preview.
A shot change costs up to 50 credits. You can have one change in progress per video and three per workspace. While a change is being applied, Approve and Request changes wait until it lands.
If a change fails, the page shows the reason and a Retry button (“Retrying this edit.”).
What you cannot change
Section titled “What you cannot change”- Whole-video redesigns. Moving, resizing and retyping layers and re-rendering single shots are supported. For a different treatment of the whole video, make a new one with a sharper brief.
- Videos made by an earlier version of Svay. The page says “Editing isn’t available for videos made with an earlier version. Create a new video to make changes.”
- Videos delivered to you by Svay’s team. They play, download, approve and publish, but cannot be edited: “This video cannot be edited here.”
Download
Section titled “Download”Download the finished file gives you the version the run currently delivers: the latest shot change, or the first cut. Text and layer edits made on the preview are rendered in when you schedule the video, so a download made before then may not include them.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”“Changes aren’t available for this video right now.” Svay cannot take changes at the moment. Try again in a while.
Approve is greyed out. The video has not succeeded yet, or a shot change is still being applied.
My edit did not save. The editor shows “Could not save changes.” Check your connection and use the reload icon; your draft stays in the editor.
A shot change will not start. Your workspace can have three shot changes running, and a video one at a time. Try again when one finishes.
