Context

What Svay knows about your brand, where to edit it, and which inputs change the output most.

  • Editors and owners

Context is everything Svay knows about your brand. Every script, caption, image brief and email is written from it. If output feels generic, Context is almost always the reason.

Open Context from the sidebar. It needs the editor or owner role.

A list on the left holds the parts of Context. Press Ask Svay to open a side conversation that “knows this client’s brain”: ask things like “What do you know about my audience?” or “Is my positioning clear and specific?” instead of reading every section.

SectionWhat it holds
The businessWho you are, who you are for, how you sound. Your company details, notes, and a read-only view of what Svay has worked out.
Custom instructionsStanding rules that apply to everything Svay writes.
CorrectionsSpecific facts you have taught Svay.
Brand identityYour generated colours, fonts and style. See Brand identity.
Creative assetsProduct photos and brand material for image work. Only appears when your workspace has Product Studio switched on.
PresenterThe avatar and voice that front your videos. See Presenters.
All sourcesDocuments and conversations Svay can read.
ActivityA log of what has happened in Context.

Each section saves on its own.

Everything Svay inherits before it writes a word.

Press Save identity to save. Press Scan website to have Svay re-read your site and refresh these fields; it needs a website address and shows its progress while it works.

Context notes is a free-form box for anything that does not fit above: positioning, competitors, constraints. It is stored exactly as you write it.

What Svay knows is its own document in the list on the left: the strategy and research Svay generated, and what it has learned from your feedback (the Feedback tab). Use the refresh icon to regenerate a document.

The Readiness panel under the list shows only what is still worth doing, such as a file Svay cannot read, market research that is more than a week old, or no publishing account yet, each with one button and what it adds to the percentage.

Standing rules for the whole brand: tone, do’s and don’ts, phrases to avoid. They go into every prompt verbatim and always apply, so use them for rules rather than facts.

Never use the word “solution”. Always end on a question. Write in British English.

The limit is 4,000 characters.

Corrections are facts you teach Svay when it gets something wrong. In chat, svay is given your corrections as standing rules on every answer (up to eight), and they weigh more than documents or notes.

  • Add one with the New correction box, and edit or delete any existing correction.
  • You can store up to 30.
  • Svay also captures corrections from chat. It keeps a message if it starts with “remember” or “note that”, or contains phrases such as “our audience is”, “we target”, “we don’t” or “do not”. Messages longer than 300 characters are not captured, and neither is wording outside those patterns, so add important corrections here directly.

If Svay keeps calling your product a “platform” when you call it a “system”, one correction fixes that for good.

All sources is the library of material Svay can read. Add it in four ways:

Way to addDetails
Upload a fileUp to 20 files at a time, 20 MB each. PDF, DOCX, PPTX, TXT, Markdown, CSV and JSON all work. Older .doc and .ppt files are kept but Svay cannot read their text: save them as DOCX or PPTX.
Google DriveConnect on Integrations, then choose files with the Google file picker. Svay can only see files you pick.
SlackConnect on Integrations, then import channel history.
Meeting notesTranscripts from the meeting notetaker, when it is enabled for your workspace.

Each source shows what Svay managed to read: Readable text (it can quote this), Visual source (an image or similar), or Metadata only. If a file has no readable text, such as a scanned PDF, Svay cannot use it: upload a text-based version. Svay reads at most 120,000 characters of a single document.

When you chat with svay, it does not read all of Context. Each answer is built from three things:

  1. Your custom instructions, which always apply.
  2. Your corrections, given as standing rules: up to eight, each trimmed to 420 characters.
  3. Up to eight items picked from your material because they match what you asked. Up to three corrections are reserved among them, and the rest are ranked. Every item starts with a weight (what Svay has learned from your results and your corrections weigh most, then saved and finished ideas, then uploaded documents and performance notes, with general profile, strategy and research text weighing least) and earns more points the closer it matches your question. A document that matches your question closely can therefore beat a general profile note.

Three practical consequences:

Write corrections. A sentence in Corrections reaches every answer. A sentence inside an uploaded document only does when it happens to match the question.

Put rules in Custom instructions, facts in Corrections. Rules apply to everything; corrections are facts you have already had to repeat.

Documents are for facts, not for voice. An uploaded brand guideline competes with everything else for eight slots, and only the part that matches the question is used. Put your voice in Brand voice, Custom instructions and Corrections.

A video run loads a fuller picture up front instead of ranking per question: your company, offer, audience and voice come first, followed by what Svay has learned and relevant source material, trimmed to fit. If chat missed something that is in Context, that is the eight-item limit rather than a missing document.

Context improves from what you do:

  • Corrections you write.
  • Saved and used ideas. Ideas that you save, draft, schedule or publish are tracked and feed Svay’s learning from results.
  • Results. Rate how a post performed under Performance, with a short reason.

Ratings and reasons are saved to the post’s feedback and read back on later briefs: a specific reason (“the hook was too slow”) gives Svay more to work with than a bare rating.

Svay ignores a document I uploaded. Open All sources and check what it shows for the file. A Metadata only label or “No retrievable text was extracted” means Svay cannot read it. Upload a text-based version, or save older .doc and .ppt files as DOCX or PPTX.

“source document exceeds 20 MB”. Split the file or compress it.

Some Google Drive files did not import. Svay can only read files you picked in the Google picker. Pick them again.

Connect Google Drive or Slack first. Both connect from Integrations. Return to Context afterwards.

Svay missed something I know is in Context. Chat uses eight items per answer. Turn the fact into a correction so it is always seen.
